‘Behind the Scars’; a solo exhibition showcasing the work of 24-year-old photographer Sophie Mayanne, including an exclusive preview of never-before-seen photographs.
‘Behind the Scars’ is a London-based project which has already travelled to New York. Since April 2017, Mayanne has sought to capture and celebrate scars of all varieties, and the inspiring stories behind them.
Each of the 1,000 images Mayanne aims to capture for the project will be accompanied by a self-written passage about the subject’s scars. Each tells its own story and the photographs capture the complex nature of documenting these scars as both a vulnerable and empowering experience.
Our curator for this exhibition, Isabella Fernandes, has previously been photographed for 'Behind the Scars' and is a student at the University of York.
The exhibition is a free event, but donations are welcome. Funds will go to ‘Behind the Scars’ to help continue the photography project. Please refer to the ticket link above for more information.
