How is the committee elected?

As a ratified Society with University of York Students’ Union (YUSU), Norman Rea Gallery has to abide by specific rules and YUSU hold their groups to a very high standard to make sure that the Society is effectively and fairly managed.

The Committee is democratically elected at an Annual General Meeting (AGM). All of the Committee must be current YUSU members who are enrolled and studying on a University of York programme. Only current paying members of the Society are allowed to stand for election.

All members will be made aware of their ability to stand for election and vote. Only paying Society members who are also full members of YUSU are entitled to vote. All members of the Society will have the chance to question candidates and submit a vote in private.
